Back Up - The Series

"You know that source we've been searching for?"
Jo glanced over at her partner in the passenger seat. Charlie was a big man, and he took up most of his seat and managed to squeeze over onto her side. It was all muscle covered with a healthy layer of fat courtesy of what he called "ass in seat" time.
Like now.
They had been in the patrol car for three hours, but during that time, there was no patrolling.
There was sitting outside of a brick warehouse, waiting.
Watching.
Charlie had a CI, or a confidential informant. God only knows how the man managed to speak to the person, since most of the time, his ass was in the seat of the patrol car, ready to bark out orders for Jo to follow.
But the CI had informed them, confidentially, that some big shit was going down in the warehouse on the edge of the river district, the one targeted for redevelopment.
"Drugs?" she asked.
Charlie shook his boulder like head, sending shivers down his jowly cheeks.
"Murder? Burglary? Grand Larceny? Arson?” she ran through a list.
“You’re just checking off what we’ve seen this week,” he smiled. “And you forgot jaywalking.”
“And littering.”
“God, the littering,” he shook his head. “I’ll never get that image out of my head.”
She made a motion with her finger and hand telling him to get on with it.
He did.
