Coffee is like jet fuel to creativity
Or at least I was pumped after a couple of cups of coffee.
Fall has fell! It was fifty degrees here this morning.
I’m not normally a fall weather guy. I don’t drink pumpkin
spice latte’s or get grateful for boot weather.
But I do like it when the humidity is gone and there’s a crisp
feel to the air.
Plus it was cool to watch the neighbor’s sprinkler go off- I
guess the water in the pipes was still warm from yesterday, so as it combined
with the cooler air temps, it created a miniature fog bank that floated up in
ghost like tendrils.
I may have told you I live next to a lake (the house is west
of the lake so the sun rising sparkles across the water) and for about twenty
minutes, the sun filtered through the small layer of fog before it got too high
and began to burn it off.
It’s moments like that, cup of coffee in hand, staring
through the back window with the air coming through the screen, watching
accidental mist made by the conditions, that make me feel pumped.
Finding magic in the moments.
Sometimes, I feel like I’m discovering a secret.
Then I remember, most of the time, we’re locked in four
walls, watching screens, or reading books (guilty) and don’t get to spend most
of our lives studying the world around us.
I get amazed at how fast the computer in my smartphone is,
how instantly connected I am, and how I use it to share stories with thousands
of people around the world.
And I wonder if we’re missing something every so often.
Moments like making fog, or birds in flight or spiderwebs
catching raindrops that shimmer in the sunlight.
So today, I challenge you to look for magic anywhere you can
find it.
You can tell me what you see, what you find, or you can keep
it to yourself for your own personal joy.
Either way, my wish for you is joy today in little things.
